Iftekhar Enayetullah is an engineer with a master’s degree in waste management. During the 1990s, while still a student, he focused on household waste issues. He decided to put his skills and knowledge to work in Dhaka, the capital city where he grew up, which was struggling with the accumulation of household waste. While working on his thesis, he met Maqsood Sinha, another Bangladeshi who shared his convictions and ambitions.
Maqsood Sinha is also a native of Dhaka, but he completed his studies in Thailand, obtaining his master's degree in urban planning and waste management from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. He attributes his altruistic bent to his years in the Scouts and his father’s community involvement. In 1995, he joined Iftekhar Enayetullah to found the Waste Concern Group.
